Hi everyone!
Sorry I’m just getting out my introductory post. You have all learned a little about me from the show and tell activity we did the first few days of school but I’d love to tell you more! Right now I am living in Portland. It is such a fun city! I love that it is small and friendly but still has a lot of places to hang out and have fun. It actually has a similar feel to Arlington, VA where I grew up. That is also a small town in terms of area, but has tons of people and things to do! The best thing about growing up in Arlington was that I could ride the underground train with my friends and didn’t always have to rely on my parents to drive me to the mall or the movies. I felt so grown up!
I have never worked in a middle school before but I am really enjoying being in your class and getting to know you all! It makes me think about when I was your age and in middle school just like you. I remember really enjoying middle school. I liked having a locker and getting to see friends in the halls and at lunch. I’m sure you all enjoy similar things about school. I also liked my classes :) I remember 6th and 7th grade was when I began to feel a lot more comfortable with math and more interested in science. I also got really into reading chapter books about ghost stories or mysteries. I walked 15 minutes to and from my middle school and was so used to the route I took I could actually read while I was walking. Probably not very safe but the books had me totally hooked and I had to find out what happened!
I love winter but I have to say I am really excited for the warm weather to get here! I am really looking forward to going to the beach, taking walks on the sunny spring days and going camping and hiking in Acadia. What a great National Park we have in Maine! For my birthday this year I received a new tent and a new sleeping bag! I am so excited to try them out. I will roast marshmallows by the fire then curl up in my tent and fall asleep listening to the sounds of the woods around me. Camping may be one of my favorite things to do!
Well that’s enough rambling on my part. I would absolutely love to hear any comments or similar stories you want to tell me about you!

Miss Langhans,
ReplyDeleteYou sure weren't affraid of going to pink on this. I thought your biography was wonderfully detailed and not "rambling" at all. I can't help but think that you've gone a bit overboard with all the exclamation points, however!
Looks great to me Miss Langhans! Your middle school students will enjoy reading about you and your love for reading.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've done a good job introducing yourself to your class. I'm sure the students will like using your blog to get to know you. Looks like you've got yourself set up to use it as a teaching tool as well. Nicely done!
